ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Chair Goodman reported that the subject of a “Police Blotter” was brought up at the Campus Council Meeting of May 10, 2004.  Other Campus Council members agreed that a regular notification of Faculty and Staff of security issues (break-ins, stolen vehicles, assaults etc.) would allow all campus constituents to take an active role in a type of “neighborhood watch.”  Chancellor Silliman appointed Director of Administrative Services Cliff Togo the task of keeping the campus updated on such security issues.

Chair Goodman solicited suggestions from the Senate on a proposed message to faculty that will recommend that each faculty member, in the Fall, remind their students that the N grading will no longer be a grading option.  Students should be made aware that they should withdraw from a course if they are unable to complete it or they will receive an F.  The time limit for withdrawal is the tenth week of each semester.  Senator Flegal suggested that the specific date of the Fall 2004 withdrawal date be noted in the message.
