OWAP services will be available between August 27, 2007, and December 4, 2007.

Welcome to the Learning Resource Center's Online Writing Assistance Program (OWAP)!

OWAP provides an online method for LCC student writers to receive assistance from the Learning Resource Center's writing consultants.

To request online writing assistance, please read the following information and then go to the REQUEST PAGE by pressing the pink button above or below.

  1. File Format: The required file format is Microsoft Word. If we receive a document that is not in Microsoft Word format, we will send an e-mail to you to inform you that we cannot review your document unless you re-submit your document in Microsoft Word format. If you use a word processing application other than Microsoft Word (such as Microsoft Works or Corel WordPerfect), it is possible to save your document in Microsoft Word format. Please click on the MS Works or Corel WordPerfect links to see an image of how to save your document as a Microsoft Word format type.

  2. Request: Please be descriptive and specific in your request for assistance. We want to provide you with a response that will be helpful. Please include the required information in your request.

  3. Scope: Please note that writing consultants will not proofread or rewrite papers.

  4. Weekly Limit: As a general rule, students may submit one paper per week to OWAP for each of their LCC courses.

  5. Plagiarism: Leeward Community College is committed to preserving academic responsibility and integrity and accordingly does not condone student cheating or plagiarism as defined in the "Academic Dishonesty" sections of the UH Student Conduct Code and the LCC Catalogue. By submitting any writing to OWAP, students agree and consent to the submission of such writing to online and electronic anti-plagiarism devices, including, without limitation, Turnitin, a plagiarism prevention program. Turnitin automatically adds any writing which is submitted to Turnitin to Turnitin's database of source materials to detect plagiarism in current and future student work.

  6. Time Frame:  We have limited funding and also cannot predict the volume or demand for this service, so please allow at least 48 hours for a response on your submitted paper. This time frame does not include weekends or holidays.
