2008
Summer Schedule
First session:
May 27 through June 25*.
Second session:
July 7 through August 6*.
*Last day to submit
OWAP papers for each session
NOTE:
Because of our limited summer staffing, if we receive more OWAP papers than
we can handle within the compressed summer time frame, we may need to refer
students to our face-to-face or phone consultation services or to
SMARTHINKING, a free online service (please refer to the LRC homepage for
more information about SMARTHINKING).
Welcome
to the Learning Resource Center's Online Writing Assistance Program
(OWAP)!
OWAP provides an online
method for Leeward CC student writers to receive assistance with writing projects for
Leeward CC courses and with personal statements for scholarship
applications. As we do with our face-to-face
sessions, we will let your instructor know that you have used our
services and what we discussed.
To request online writing assistance, please read
the following information and then go to the REQUEST PAGE by
pressing the pink button above or below.
-
Weekly Limit:
As a general rule, students may submit one paper per week to OWAP for each
of their Leeward CC courses.
-
Time Frame:
We have limited funding and staffing, and we also cannot predict the volume or demand for
this service; so please allow AT LEAST THREE BUSINESS DAYS
(72 hours) for a response on your submitted paper. This time frame
does not include Fridays, weekends, or holidays and begins the next
business day for papers received after 10 a.m. The time frame for
a response may be longer than this minimum of three business days. We appreciate your use of this
service, and we will respond as soon as our limited funding and staffing allow.
-
Plagiarism:
Leeward CC is committed to preserving academic
responsibility and integrity and accordingly does not condone student
cheating or plagiarism as defined in the "Academic Dishonesty" sections
of the UH Student Conduct Code and the Leeward CC Catalogue. By submitting any
writing to OWAP, students agree and consent to the submission of such
writing to online and electronic anti-plagiarism devices, including,
without limitation, Turnitin, a plagiarism prevention program. Any
writing which is submitted to
Turnitin is automatically filed in Turnitin's database of source
materials to detect plagiarism in current and future student work.
If
you have any questions regarding OWAP or the writing consultants or the
services that they provide, please contact
Laurie Kuribayashi at 455-0414 or
Beth Kupper-Herr at 455-0413.
