Student Employment in the LRC
The LRC hires students at different times of the year for various positions including tutors, desk/clerical/technical help, notetakers, and other positions. All positions for the University of Hawaii system, including Leeward Community College, are searched and applied for using the Student Employment and Cooperative Education (SECE) website. Please remember that you must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in the semester that you are applying. If you are applying for a position during any of the interim breaks (Winter and Summer), you must complete your registration for the next semester BEFORE using the SECE website (or you won't be able to get the referral for the position). To use the SECE website, follow the instructions on the SECE handout (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader) which can be downloaded and viewed using the link below.
The LRC and KI, our sister program, hire students at different times of the year for various positions, including Writing Consultants, Content Tutors, LRC Front Desk Aides, KI Paraprofessionals, and KI Notetakers. (see LRC Student Staff for a brief description of each position).

HOW TO APPLY:
· All positions for the University of Hawaii system, including Leeward Community College, are searched and applied for using the Student Employment and Cooperative Education (SECE) website. The website for SECE is:

· You must be registered for a minumum of 6 credits and have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in the semester that you are applying.
· When you go to the SECE site, search for the position you’re interested in. The next step is to add the position to your referral list, then process and print a referral .
· Note: To apply for positions labeled “College Work Study” or “Bridge to Hope”, you must be qualified under these programs (both are forms of financial aid which provide funds for students to work on campus).
· After you’ve printed the referral, contact the person indicated on the referral to arrange for an interview. (Important note: nobody will contact you. It’s up to you to arrange this.)
· A resume is required for all positions. Bring your resume with you to the interview.
· If you are applying for a position during either of the interim breaks (winter or summer), you must complete your registration for the next semester before using the SECE website (or the system won’t permit you to complete the online application).
· Note that availability of positions varies. It’s usually best to apply near the end of a semester for employment that begins in the following semester.
