The ESL Program has been in effect since the beginning of Leeward College some thirty years' past. The program is organized so that a non-native speaker of English may enter at a basic level and advance through the program to the transfer level at ESL 100.

Leeward's ESL Program

The complete ESL ( English as a Second Language) program prepares non-native speakers of English for the speaking, reading and writing tasks expected of a college student. The comprehensive and well-rounded preparation that students receive, brings not only language skills, but learning skills, social skills, self-awareness and cultural familiarity. The ESL program graduate is able to take his or her place in college classes alongside native speakers of English.

College Intensive English Courses in ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE are offered from the basic level up to the college transfer level.
