English Language Institute (ELI)

The English Language Institute (ELI) at Leeward Community College offers a non-credit Intensive English program of 18 hours of classroom instruction per week in 8 week sessions to prepare international students for college level academic success.  There are four levels of study in the ELI from beginning to advanced.  Students advance a level each 8 weeks.   All students take an English placement test upon arrival to determine their English ability.

Upon successful completion of the advanced level, students receive automatic admission to Leeward’s degree program without further requirements (no additional testing such as TOEFL, no additional application to fill out).  The English Language Institute is accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is also a member of AAIEP (American Association of Intensive English Programs).
