Student Opinion Survey-II

After the first midterm examination, students in Bio 101 MWF class were asked "What makes it easy to study this course and what makes it hard?"

The results are as follows:

1. Everyone liked the online quizzes and multiple opportunities granted to improve one's score while learning form mistakes in pervious quizzes.

2. As to what made it hard, there was remarkable variability in the way students reported. However, a majority are related to personal study habits (e.g., not taking all five quizzes, procrastination, lack of time, memorizing and terminology).

Sample comments.

Student 1: "To be honest with you, the online tools have made tings a lot smoother for me. Though I have not taken advantage of all the tools available, the ones I have used, like the retaking of the quizzes have made me understand  more of topics in class."

Student 2: "The test wasn't easy or hard. It was a fair test. Anyone can get a multiple choice question correct with luck, but by adding the short answer questions we actually had to show that we knew the subject. It was a good test and easy to follow, so I would prefer to use this test format for future exams. "

Student 3: "First, I really like the quizzes online. Whatever I get wrong, I can go over the quiz and prepare myself for the next one. For the exam, I wish that I just allowed myself more time to study. I have sort of a hard time comprehending and absorbing the material I just went over. Now I know what to expect for remaining exams."
