Open Labs

Check In

The CCL needs to collect and maintain data on lab usage for statistical purposes. For this reason students are required to have a current validated LCC student ID card with the library barcode sticker attached. No other form of identification will be accepted. Students without an ID card can obtain one during registration. Inquire at Student Services for more information.

Note: All students within the University of Hawaii system are allowed use of the lab provided a current validated student ID card from their campus is presented.

Time Limit

There will be a time limit of 2 hours for application usage and 1 hour for Internet usage only if all the computers are being used and there is a waiting list.

Printing

Laser and dot matrix printers are available in the open lab. Paper is provided for dot matrix printers but users must provide 20 lbs paper for laser printing. Multiple copies and printing web pages are not allowed. Printing is limited to 10 pages per day.

Classroom Reservations

Faculty and staff may reserve CCL classrooms for workshops during normal hours of operation provided a classroom is available. Reservations should be made one to two weeks prior to the event. See the lab manager for a reservation form. Reservations are on a “first come, first served” basis.

A total of 4 classes and/or workshops may be booked at one time for a class section. Additional reservations may be made after the initial 4 sessions have concluded.

During a time when the lab is in use for instructional and/or workshop purposes, the use of any additional unused computers by others not in the class or workshop, will be left to the discretion of the instructor scheduled for that time period.

Security

Classroom doors are to be locked when there are two or more hours between classes. The last instructor of the day/night should be certain that all the equipment in the classroom is turned off and that the doors are locked.

General guidelines in effect in the lab at all times include:

Installation of personal software and/or copying of software installed on the classroom or open lab computers is prohibited. This is an infringement of copyright laws and is illegal.

Anyone using the computers should do so in an appropriate and responsible manner. Anyone caught doing otherwise risks the loss of computer privileges.

No recreational computer game playing is permitted.

Chatting on the computer is prohibited at all times.

No food or beverages are allowed in the lab. Please leave all food and beverages outside.
