Travel Grant Application (fillable)
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Staff Development Travel Grant Program is to provide funding to support staff development activities requiring out-of-state and inter-island travel. This program provides faculty and staff an opportunity for further professional growth and development so they may more effectively serve this campus and their field of specialization.
FUNDING
Travel grants cover only the cost of air and ground transportation, per diem and conference/workshop fees up to a total of $1,500 (budget permitting). The individual is expected to pay for costs beyond that limit with personal funds. Funds are awarded at three different times:

May to August April 16

ELIGIBILITY
Applications for staff development travel is generally accepted from all faculty, staff and lecturers..
CRITERIA:
- Applications are judged on the benefits to be gained by the applicant and relevancy to the college goals.
- Some priority may be given to those presenting at conferences or taking a leadership role at the conference.
- Some priority may be given to applicants who have not received funding for travel through college-related funding in the past two years.
- Travel will not be funded retroactively.
PROCESS:
1. Obtain an application form from the Chancellors Office, Vice-Chancellors Office or Innovation Center for Teaching and Learning..
2. Submit a completed application with a copy of the conference program or other relevant materials to the Chancellors Office by 4:30 p.m. on the deadline date.
3. A committee -- comprised of a Division Chair (convener), APT Representative, Faculty Senate Representative, and two past recipients -- will review the applications for the travel grants and make recommendations to the Chancellor.
4. The Chancellor with approve/disapprove recommendations and will be notify the recipient of the decision.,. Recipients of a travel grant are responsible for complying with all University of Hawai`i policies and procedures governing out-of- state travel.
