Volunteer Information

Internship and pratica experiences are available for students at the doctoral, masters, and baccalaureate levels.  Although training for graduate students in social welfare and other social sciences are emphasized, all students with an interest in Native Hawaiian health, cancer prevention and control, and community-based participatory research are encouraged to explore internship and practica.

Organization Purposes

The mission of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i is to reduce the burden of cancer through research, education, and service with an emphasis on the unique ethnic, cultural, and environmental characteristics of Hawai'i and the Pacific.

The Cancer Research Center is a research unit of the University of Hawai'i that was established by the Board of Regents as a freestanding independent institute in 1981.

Today, the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i continues to bring together researchers who focus on understanding the etiology of cancer and on reducing its impact on the people of Hawai'i.
