Volunteer Information

The Society has professional librarians and archivists who volunteer to work on library project.  Volunteer editors and indexes work on Society publications, and volunteers help with the public programs and history conferences.  The Society also seeks original, documented articles on Hawai'i’s history to publish the Hawaiian Journal of History.

Organization Purposes

The Hawaiian Historical Society is dedicated to preserving historical material relating to Hawai'i and the Pacific and publishing scholarly research on the history of Hawai'i and the Pacific.  The Society maintains a research library that is open to the public, publishes the Hawaiian Journal of History and limited edition books, and holds regular lecture meetings.  The Society also publishes a newsletter and an annual report.  Membership is open to both individuals and institutions and includes the annual Hawaiian Journal of History and discounts on Society publications.  The lecture programs and research library are open to the public free of charge.
