Volunteers Needed

All individuals interested in perpetuating ‘Iolani Palace and the Hawaiian culture are welcome.  If you have a desire to learn, enjoy working with people, and have a few hours a week to spare, ‘Iolani Palace is a great place for you.  Volunteers perform a variety of tasks, but primarily serve as ‘Iolani Palace docents.  Other opportunities include:

·       Guardians who provide assistance for both Docents and visitors on tour.  On the job training is provided for this important non-speaking role.  Forty hours of Guardian service are required for those interested in becoming Docents.

·       Greeters greet visitors upon their arrival, prepare them for their tours by taking tickets, giving house rules, and issuing “booties.”  Hospitality and friendliness are key attributes of Palace Greeters.

·       Clerical volunteers are organized individuals who would like to help by providing general office assistance such as filing and mailing.

·       Other positions are available in the Video Theater, the Palace Galleries, and the Gallery shop.

All volunteer application forms can be found on the Friends of 'Iolani Palace website, www.iolanipalace.org.
