What is the HCOP?

The University of Hawai'i’s HCOP is an educational pipeline to health careers for high school and college students from diverse ethnic, educationally and/or economically disadvantaged backgrounds with the goal of increasing the number of individuals from these backgrounds in the health and allied health professions.

The program is designed to increase students’ likelihood of college successes through application of effective study skills, exploration of diverse health professions and immersion in summer programs that includes introduction to health care issues and careers through the problem-based learning method, communication skills development, and student and residential life on the UH Manoa campus.

Students receive assistance applying to and completing a health degree within the University of Hawai'i system and participate in career mentoring opportunities at community clinics and hospitals.
