Māla ʻŌiwi=Cultural Garden
The Māla ‘Ōiwi is part of our mission to further Native Hawaiian education by providing a space that serves as both a resource for botanical studies and cultural practices.
This tract of land started as unused and overrun by invasive plants, now it has been transformed into a haven for native plants.
The Māla also provides raw materials for workshops in Mālama Aina, cultural art such as dye, kapa making and food education. Currently the Māla is hosting groups that wish to contribute their time and effort to maintaining the garden in exchange for a greater understanding of these precious natural resources.
