A roof detail from Nak San Sa. This temple was in deep shade and required too long a shutter speed for hand holding. Moreover, the contrast difference between the roof and painting was too great to hold detail in both shadows and highlights. Thus, I used flash to fill and balance the highlights on the roof with the dark but very intricate and colorful painting beneath. A little artificial looking, but it worked.
