I took this hand held shot of a ceiling detail at the Venetian Hotel and Casino. After about 10 minutes of staring at the ceiling I felt dizzy.
The Venetian has an astounding gimmick: all of Venice squeezed into an extra jumbo city block. You can't appreciate the detail of the recreations if you haven't been to Venice. The accuracy and detail are uncanny. Well, except for one thing: unlike Venice, everything is squeaky clean and new. But amazingly many of the landmarks, artworks, canals, cafes, shops and other icons are collapsed into a colossal architectural Grand Canyon. You can spend hours strolling along the shop lined canal, ride a gondola, sip a cappuccino or "git down" at a swingin' hot spot. Of course it's pretty dad burn expensive so bring your luck to the tables before hitting Louis Vuitton and Tao.
