Beware oh ye pedestrian! Unlike the Pacific Northwest, many motorists in Hawaii avoid stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks. They suffer from a basic lack of manners and a false sense of invincibility and importance when riding in a car. They'll gleefully engage in a game of chicken with you if you dare tread upon the crosswalk. If you win, it smarts like hell.
