The Pacific Coast Highway twists along the shoreline from Washington to California, offering towering cliffs, sea-stacks, expansive beaches, ancient forests, bone chilling fog, massive sand dunes, Art Deco bridges and rustic villages. Most travelers are grinding down I-5, making US 101 and California 1 a relaxing scenic drive. The gotcha is keeping eyes on the road lest you tumble into the churning Pacific. And, yes, it's a photographer's paradise. I've traveled the Pacific Coast Highway from Southern Washington to Northern California, but never the entire stretch all at once. The images in this gallery begin at Seaside, Oregon, and are arranged as if you are driving south on the Pacific Coast Highway. Click on thumbnails to make bigger |
