Historical Highway 30 on the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge. Although scenery is stunning, keep your eyes on the road as the narrow lanes and lack of shoulder leave little room for errors.

The cool light of shade and sunlight filtering through the forest canopy made for tricky white balance. No matter how I set color temperature it looked horrid. I realized what bothered me most was the blueish light reflecting off the asphalt. I wanted it to be black and gray, not blue and cyan! So I converted a layer to black and white. Of course it was too black so I blended the color and monotone layers (road portion only) and saw Highway 30 as I remember it.
