The Pearl at Leeward Community College Set in a picturesque corner of the campus is a culinary gem The Pearl. This is the Colleges fine dining restaurant, open to the public for lunch as well as occasional special dinner, completely staffed by the students of the Program. Each semester, a new group of aspiring Chefs enter the dining room and kitchen of the Pearl with dreams and visions of superior service and exceptional culinary creations. The dining room is open for business during the Fall and Spring semester. Call Associate Professor Tommylynn Benavente at 455-0298 for menus, reservations and hours of operation. The Leeward Community College Cafeteria Under the direction of an industry-trained chef-manager, Leeward Community Colleges cafeteria is open for breakfast and lunch. The student operated cafeteria is the main production outlet for the program. As part of the curriculum, students experience real-life volume cooking and guest service, while honing in on kitchen production and organizational skills. The cafeteria is open during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. A specialized area of the cafeterias production activities is the training of students in catering menus. The Grill, a student operated Snack Shop During the Fall and Spring Semesters, the Grill is open for business. This is the production outlet for the Short Order breakfast and lunch course. Under the watchful eye of their chef-instructor, students refine organizational, production and customer service skills needed to operate a small restaurant. |
