Overall Program Analysis

The overall program is healthy.

Program demand is healthy. As a new discipline, (certificate created in 1998; Associate's Degree created in 2003), Digital Media shows a growing demand, indicated by the substantial increase in the number of majors in the program.

Program efficiency is healthy. Most measures of efficiency surpassed that of the previous year. The average class size (20) meet the minimum PHI level of 20, it has improved from the previous year.

Program effectiveness is cautionary. Although the data shows a negative change from AY04to AY 05, the true effectiveness is difficult to assess after two years (since inception). Also, the graduation rate decreased as a result of students' goals changing with the offering of the digital media Associate in Science degree in AY 05. Because students are now targeting the new Associate in Science Degree in Digital Media Production they do not apply to receive any of the Certificates of Competence before they are ready to receive the AS degree.

A student may have been taking the courses required to receive a Certificate of Competence in Digital Media but if the student does not make an appointment with a counselor and then apply to receive the Certificate, it will not be received.

Starting in FALL 2006 we will be able to measure the result of the Associate in Science Degree.
