Biology Discipline




Overview

The Biology Discipline at Leeward Community College currently offers twenty courses encompassing the subjects biology, botany, microbiology, zoology, biotechnology and horticulture. Faculty in the Chemistry Discipline provide complementary courses in biochemistry, food science and human nutrition, and pharmacology. Although no specific biology or biomedical programs or degrees are presently available at Leeward Community College, the L.C.C. Math and Sciences Division offers most or all of the 100- and 200-level courses required to transfer to other University of Hawaii campuses and immediately enter programs such as the Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs, or to begin upper division studies in the biological sciences.
A variety of courses that satisfy L.C.C. and U.H. core science requirements is available to all students, including those not planning to enter scientific, medical, or allied health fields.
