Garden Project

Students have been working in a designated land area on the Ewa side of the LCC campus where there are a number of native Hawaiian plants as well as non native lei plants.  This garden is maintained by volunteers.

If you would like to volunteer contact the garden coordinator Ikaika Lum at (808) 455-0225

Cultural Speaker Series

Every month during the Fall and Spring semester distinguished native Hawaiians share their knowledge to students, faculty, and the general public.  During the Spring 2005 semester some of the speakers were Keali`i Reichel, Kimo Alama Keaulana, and Albert Wendt.

Ho'olaule'a

The Ho`olaule`a was organized with the help of the Hawaiian Club and the Hawaiian Language classes.  During the Ho`olaule`a there were stations for tasting `awa and mamaki tea as well as a station for coconut frond weaving.  Some of the entertainment were LCC's hula class taught by Kumu Vicky Takamine and LCC's Kanikapila Singers.  We were also fortunate to have the Royal Hawaiian Band conducted by Aaron Mahi.

Volunteer and Internship Fair

The fair is held once a semester.  Non-profit organizations as well as for-profit organizations are invited to share information about their programs.  Students are able to talk to representatives of the different organizations to seek possible volunteer or internship positions.
