Bellingham Bay during a calm Summer evening. If you're traveling north to Vancouver from Seattle, exit the freeway near Burlington and take Chuckanut Drive north to Bellingham. You'll be rewarded with wondrous vistas of the San Juan Islands, rolling farm lands, twisting country roads and emerge to this view of Bellingham Bay in the Fairhaven district.
Bellingham isn't your normal tourist trap, but it has a wonderful college--Western Washington University--Victorian architecture, quaint Fairhaven Village and gambling at the local Indian reservation. However, it's a good base for photographers and sightseers to work from as the North Cascades, Puget Sound and Canada are near by.
