Fremont Street • Las Vegas, Nevada

The far western edge of Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. The Golden Gate Casino (left) is the oldest hotel in Vegas, dating from 1906. The massive 4 block long LED display "canopy" ends here (upper right). The Plaza is an underwhelming casino but frequented for its cheap rooms, many fast food restaurants and Karen's omiyage grinds.

During summers Fremont Street is the coolest "outdoor" location in Vegas. The LED display canopy manages to retain AC pouring out of casinos while deflecting the blazing Nevada sun. On the Strip a typical summer day is 100-115 degrees F., so Fremont Street is a surprisingly cool experience if you like to casino hop.
