American compatriots at the Hopbräuhaus with a need for beer 'n um-pa.
About half the people in this noisy, crowded and crazy place were foreigners. Brass um-pa band and hundreds of beer soaked people equals utter pandemonium. The floors were covered with puddles of beer and dangerously slick. Although the men's room was huge, I actually had to stand in line. I guess German beer is brewed to pass quickly (so you drink more).
Men were violently banging their mugs on the tables, women were screaming--I even got flashed--and people were basically having a good old swashbuckling time. The ambient sound level was approximately that of a jet engine during takeoff. And we didn't care.
