Local Bernmese in festive apparel at a block party in Bern, Switzerland. I'm not sure what they're supposed to be, but they have wings, stilts and WWI ace headgear--maybe a cross between Snoopy (the doggy ace) and a stork?
The event was a celebration of the train station's new roof and attracted tens of thousands of revelers. Seriously! I guess the Swiss don't need much of an excuse for a party. Food and booze booths were everywhere and bandstands every few hundred feet. I was expecting to hear native Swiss music but American style rock, blues and jazz bands were all the rage. Oddly they even sang in English..
