Tunnel to San Maria Maggiore Roma, Italia![]()

This tunnel leads to the beautiful Roman church, San Maria Maggiore, just off Cavour street. The church is filled with stunning Renaissance artwork, including Michelangelo's Moses sculpture.
Incidentally, this type of exposure doesn't work well in full auto modes. Cameras average the dark tunnel and outside scenes, thus grossly overexposing the brighter area. The easiest way around this problem is to spotmeter a medium toned area outside, lock exposure and take the shot. The tunnel will go black and form a frame for the correctly exposed outside scene. You could also use evaluative/matrix metering and zoom, lock exposure and zoom back and take the shot. The idea is to exclude the dark tunnel from metering.
