Shark's Cove is one of my favorite places on the North Shore. This ancient lava field has eroded into a sheltered cove with sea caves, tunnels and rocks of every size and shape. These characteristics make the cove a great place for sea critters to breed and hide. The rocks are jagged, sharp and porous, so be careful if you climb on them. I've spotted baptisms, sea turtles and Hawaiian Monk Seals in the cove on several occasions (not all at once). Plus, if you get hungry, Foodland is across the street!

I liked this image of the cove because of the counterpoint between the lava rocks jutting out of the water and the distant mountain. Plus, the rocks serve as a visual pathway and draw your eye from near to far.
