It took me 15 minutes of slow and careful movement to get near enough to take a picture with my tiny zoom. He's stalking a fish in the shallows off the Straits of Juan de Fuca on Vancouver Island. Amazingly, I was within 6 or 7 feet and the bird didn't even twitch.
