Multnomah Falls is the Diamond Head Crater of Oregon. Every tourist comes here and takes this picture. There were dozens of postcards in the gift shop that looked like my image! I had to fight bus loads of Japanese and little old ladies to get to this vantage point, and hang vicariously from the railing to avoid tourist heads bobbing in and out of the frame.

Multnomah Falls is on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, twenty minutes east of Troutdale via the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway. Or, if you don't mind running with the big dogs--truckers and Winnebagos--you can brave Interstate 84 East.
