Google@UH Gmail Migration Checklist
1. Clean up UH webmail
Clean up your UH webmail account by deleting messages and folders you do not need. Be sure to empty the "Trash" and/or "Deleted Items" folders as well.
2. Stop forwarding email (if you have forwarding set up)
In your UH webmail account, follow these steps. If you want to continue forwarding your email to your other email account, skip this step and proceed to step 3.
3. Schedule
Schedule an appointment (https://www.hawaii.edu/google/signup/) to have your UH email account migrated to Google@UH Gmail. You will recieve an email from ITS when your email account has been migrated.
4. Use Google@UH Gmail
After migration is completed, you will be using Google@UH Gmail at http://gmail.hawaii.edu to check your @hawaii.edu email from now on.
5. Export Address Book (if applicable)
If you have entered contacts into your (old) UH webmail address book then you will need to export them out of your UH webmail account and import them into Google@UH Gmail after your account migration is complete. For instructions how to export and import, click here.
6. Import Leeward CC directory into your Contacts
Click here for the Leeward CC directory to download to your computer. Click here for instructions on how to import this file into your Google@UH Gmail contacts. Import them as a new group, "Leeward" so you can organize all these contacts into one main group. (Also, in your Google@UH Gmail Contacts, you can click "Find Duplicates" to merge existing contacts with the imported directory to eliminate duplicates.)
7. Attend Google@UH Gmail training
Attend Gmail training offered through the Educational Media Center.
8. Advanced email setup?
If you are using email software program contact ITG. Here are other ways to access Google@UH Gmail. Examples of email software programs include: Eudora, Outlook, Entourage, Thunderbird… (If you forward or check your UH email using another email you may also want to contact ITG).
