Google@UH Gmail
Overview
University of Hawaii's new email service is Google@UH Gmail. Your hawaii.edu email address remains, but has been activated as a Google Apps account which gives you access to many Google services like Gmail by using your hawaii.edu email address login. To access your Google@UH Gmail account go to: http://gmail.hawaii.edu. (You must be migrated first. Go here to view the migration checklist if you haven't migrated yet.) Note: Your Google@UH account is separate/different from a regular Google or Gmail account (if you have one).
Tip - To bookmark Google@UH Gmail in your Internet browser, right-click on http://gmail.com/a/hawaii.edu/ and left-click on "Bookmark this link" or something similar since it varies for each type of Internet browser.

Educational Uses
- Communicate with your collegues and students by using your Google@UH Gmail account to send and receive emails.
- Create and utilize Gmail labels and filters help you to keep emails organized and your inbox tidy.
- Add your students email addresses to your Contacts in your Google@UH Gmail account so you can easily send email through Gmail. Also, create a contact group for each of your classes so that you can easily email the whole class from your Google@UH Gmail account.
- Chat with your collegues and students who have Google accounts (i.e. they migrated to Google@UH or have a Google account) using the built-in Google Chat application in your Google@UH Gmail account.

Google@UH Gmail Tips & Tricks for Faculty
Now that you've been using your Google@UH Gmail account, come to this hands-on session to learn and implement at least five things to improve how you use it, particularly in managing/organizing all the emails from your students. Doing things like using "stars", labels, and filters to organize your email, importing your students' names and email addresses into your Contacts, and doing specific searches, will make your productivity using your Google@UH Gmail more efficient. We will also have an open discussion about other things you are interested in doing with your Google@UH Gmail.
There are two sessions for your convenience.
- Monday, March 5 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM in L-108A
-OR- - Tuesday, March 6 from from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in L-108A
Please bring your laptop (if you have one) and your class roster(s) with your students' names and email addresses from MyUH Portal (each) saved in a spreadsheet file.
It would be helpful if you have some experience using Gmail. It is strongly recommended that you check out our Gmail resources (below) to refresh your knowledge on the basics before coming to the session.
