Blackboard Collaborate

Overview

Blackboard Collaborate (formerly Elluminate Live!) is a live web conferencing platform that allows you to facilitate interactive instruction, help, and meetings to support a 21st century teaching and learning environment. Features include two-way audio, multi-point video, interactive whiteboard, application and desktop sharing, breakout rooms, session recording and more.

***Note: Leeward CC currently uses Elluminate Live! v10 and will be upgrading to Blackboard Collaborate v11 beginning Spring 2011. Those who currently use Elluminate Live! have the option to upgrade now or wait until Spring 2011. Blackboard Collaborate training will replace Elluminate Live! training.***

Blackboard Collaborate Basic Moderator (Four-Part Workshop Series)

During these four hands-on workshops (parts 1-4), you will learn about Blackboard Collaborate and how to use its tools to facilitate a class session or meeting online. After successfully completing all four parts, you will be given your own Blackboard Collaborate session to use for the entire semester.

Registering will sign you up for the following four parts*:

  • Tue. Jan. 24 - Part 1 of 4 - (face-to-face) Orientation to Blackboard Collaborate, learn and practice how to use some tools
  • Fri. Jan. 27 - Part 2 of 4 - (face-to-face) Learn and practice how to use more tools
  • Tue. Jan. 31 - Part 3 of 4 - (face-to-face) Dry-run of capstone project
  • Thr. Feb. 3 - Part 4 of 4 - (online in Blackboard Collaborate) Capstone project (You will need your own USB headset or noise-canceling microphone and speakers for this day.)
